Ted is the father of two small children and is deeply invested in the future of the Yukon and its success.
Having grown up in Dawson City, he is committed to helping ensure that his kids, and all Yukon children, have access to the same opportunities he had growing up in the territory.
“Life is significantly more expensive than it was for my parents, and I cannot sit on the sidelines without trying to do everything possible to ensure that Yukoners' concerns are heard and addressed in the Legislative Assembly.” - Ted Laking
Ted has spent the past three years on Whitehorse City Council advocating for affordability, government accountability, transparency for taxpayers and public safety.
Until this spring, he was the President of the Association of Yukon Communities.
His previous experience includes serving as Yukon Party Chief of Staff and Director of Communications for the federal Minister of Environment; providing him with a wealth of knowledge and experience within both the regional and national government landscapes.
“Unless there a strong common-sense territorial government in place to address the
issues created by the Yukon Liberals then our children will be unable to succeed and
our communities unable to grow. It’s time for change in the Yukon and in order to ensure that the next generation of Yukoners has the same opportunities that I had growing up, I want to do everything I can to ensure that Currie Dixon and the Yukon Party can deliver the change that Yukoners desperately want and deserve.” - Ted Laking
Ted is raising his two young children in Whitehorse with his wife Colleen.
